This unit is designed pupils 8-12 years old.
It takes about 90 minutes
Balancing and cycling are everyday experiences for most children. Buteven so, they are not aware that they are constantly dealing with the physical aspects of balance and force. In this museum activity, the children have the possibility to learn the background with the aid of various experiments. They build a balanced, hanging sculpture taking into account balance, force, counter-force and centre of gravity. In addition, they get to know the interdisciplinary collaboration of engineers with other professional groups –mush as the famous artist and engineer Alexander Calder did.
